Raj Shekhar, PhD
Researcher and innovator in the field of medical imaging for 20 years. Over 50 refereed papers on the subject. Two-year medical imaging industry experience. Two prior inventions have led to successful commercial products (cardiac CT system marketed by Philips Healthcare and intravascular ultrasound segmentation algorithms offered by Volcano Therapeutics).
CEO and Co-founder
William Plishker, Ph.D. is an engineer and entrepreneur and the CEO of IGI Medical Technologies. He has spent the last 10 years focused on medical image processing on high performance computing platforms. He received the B.S. degree in computer engineering from Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA, in 2000. and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His Ph.D. research centered around the acceleration of network applications on network processors. His post-doctoral work at the University of Maryland included published work on new dataﬂow models and scheduling techniques as well as application acceleration on multiple platforms, including clusters, graphics processing units, ﬁeld-programmable gate arrays, and network processors.
Chief Commercial Officer
Scott is an experienced medical device and imaging executive, and manages the global commercial activities at IGI Tech. He has successfully led MedTech sales and marketing teams for both established and startup companies. Clinical areas of focus include products related to Interventional and Surgical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging and Breast Cancer treatments. His prior company affiliations include leadership roles at ClearCut Medical, Faxitron, BTG, Covidien, and INTIO. Scott holds degrees from Bucknell University (B.S. Electrical Engineering and B.A. Biology) and the University of Connecticut (M.B.A.).
Trong Ngoc Nguyen
Trong Ngoc Nguyen is a Senior Engineer at IGI Medical Technologies. He has done original research on various projects to bring diagnostic and therapeutic imaging solutions towards clinical use. In 2014 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his master’s thesis developed novel beamforming techniques to improve the beam visualization of focused-ultrasound in therapeutic applications. As a principal engineer for Avaz Surgical, an ultrasound start-up, he developed and validated algorithms to detect nerves in minimally invasive spine surgery on portable ultrasound tablets. For his PhD dissertation also at UIUC, he developed deep learning algorithms to detect fatty liver disease in in vivo rabbits and novel physics techniques to reduce the complexity of applying quantitative ultrasound in minimally invasive cancer therapy.
Nikhil Gowda is a medical student at The George Washington University. He is currently taking a year off prior to his clinical duties in order to do research in the field of Interventional Radiology at Children’s National Medical Center. Nikhil graduated with a BS in Biology and a minor in Computer Science from St. Bonaventure University in 2017. His prior research experience includes several summer internships at the National Institutes of Health developing bioinformatics pipelines for gene sequencing analysis. His current work at IGI Medical Technologies centers around helping validate and deploy IGTFusion for fusion and ablation procedures.
